A Spiteful Win for North

It's only taken 16 rounds of footy but I've finally figured out North Melbourne's grand scheme for the season. It's genius and I don't know why I couldn't see it earlier.

Last night the Kangaroos toweled up reigning Premiers, Hawthorn, 16.12.108 to 13.10.88 in a seemingly hate-filled and passionate affair.

Brad Scott is a tactical genius: why waste effort and energy trying to beat a lowly side like the Brisbane Lions when you can trounce a big bopper like the Hawks? We've beaten the top four sides so far this year: Port Adelaide, Hawthorn, Sydney and Fremantle.

See, I don't think the Kangas want to be in the top four. Hell no. They want to be sitting pretty in the top eight and then when the Finals roll around, well, that's when they'll spring to life: as long as North Melbourne are playing top four sides in the Finals, they're a bloody cracking chance of winning the flag.

Drew Petrie, after spending the majority of the season in a mainly dormant state, has finally sprung to life with the most dominant, aggressive display of the season, bagging himself five majors and leaving poor Hawthorn defender, Brian Lake, in the dust.

As usual, Brent Harvey was at his stellar best, chalking up a nifty 30 possessions.

Nick Dal Santo, the quiet achiever of the Roos, was electric, silencing any criticism levelled at him during the week.

The Roos newest sensation, Ben Brown, got in the thick of things, slotting through two pivotal majors, only adding to his growing cult status among North fans.

To North Melbourne and Brad Scott: I'm sorry I ever questioned your skill and wisdom. I truly am. I see now the folly of my ways and the true foresight and strategic cunning you're all trying to execute.

I will never again question bizarre losses, fade-out's or even raise the word "consistency" again. I am humbled and excited to see this grand plan come into action come Finals time.

Do you too see the wisdom of Brad Scott's cunning battle plan?
